I use this waveshaping on the Voyager for fine tuning the audio-FM modulation. Filter 2 is a modified Moog-style ladder filter that retains low-end at high resonance settings. What about the Mother 32? This is why it gets my vote on this. That is, what I would miss on a Minimoog Model-D and on a Sub 37. It has this very recognizable whining woody Moog sound. I'm new to Moog and the Voyager EB so not sure how to fix is problem. The oscillators are taken from the MatrixBrute and feature the UltraSaw and Metalizer waveforms along with the usual suspects and … Combining them in the mixing section of the osc leads to phase related effects like extinction of certain frequencies or a kind of beating. Space I have, and I need the exercise as I don’t own a 50 pound Model 15 to build biceps with. Both are very flexible in terms of modulation options. Annoyances? I have noticed the brute factor seemed smoother on the Mbrute than the times I have messed with the mini brute. It has a lot of options and flexibility, and the oscs sound quite nice. Especially that patchbay – placed in an ideal position at the top – should arouse the interest of analog enthusiasts and modular users. Having both in the studio I would say … they are hard to compare as A vs B. This is great too create sounds, but completly different compared to the Voyager, again. Always! So if I dial up two saws on both synths with the filters open and play a note and tune the fundamentals with a tuner, and then play them together and tune them to each other by ear, I need to sharpen the Sub37 significantly (maybe 1/4 tone) to get the highest harmonics in tune with the MxB. I was thinking the Behringer D with its cv io might cover the Moog sound combined with the Matrixbrute in a small area. MatrixBrute has a lot more out front for modulation matrix (ergo the name), as well as sequencing.Though, to put it simply and even if Arturia made a great synth, I wouldn't be sold on reliability and all of that until a year out or so. Anyway the voyager is selling quite cheap (relatively) so it’s not a big difference price wise between the two. Having done so, I used the software to set up the MatrixBrute’s MIDI parameters (all of which are, I think, self-evident from their names) as well as a handful of detailed parameters: pedal responses, the knob mode, the velocity curve and whether the sequencer and arpeggiator send notes via MIDI. MatrixBrute 2.0 Firmware is available now! BTW … Moog gave us a direct re-routing with the Sub 37 and an additional Multi-Drive too. Low end? Which is not so much a question of why the price is going up, but rather why that synth has been so cheap so far. As a conclusion I would say, there are sounds, which I can only get from the Moog and others only from the Arturia. The Voyager is the only analogue synth in my studio, which can do this and it delivers amazing sounds. Often both patches made great sounds, but differently enough, to make both synths a keeper. In short, it’s a big sweet spot. 256-step poly-sequencer and arp. I’ve tested the thing, and it sounds veeeery good, and certainly the most versatile synth on the market right now that isn’t modular. Because I just chucked it in the back of my car and drove it down to HHB Communications (that do all the repairs/mods/etc for Moog in the UK). I have quite a lot of formant patches on the Voyager. I have both. Both synths sound great, can do moog-like basses and melodies, but neither sounds that much like a Minimoog. Playing leads on the Voyager over sequenced patterns while its filter is being modulated by clock-synced CVs and it’s being processed by a clock-synced complex delay on the H9 is a joy! I have a sub37 and love the raw driven organic tone. It looks black & monstrous. Am thinking with either synth that a Boog D would be combined. Thanks for the completely useless and unhelpful comment. The Moog Subsequent 25 appears to be a compact, less expensive option than the popular Subsequent 37. Haven't explored that much, and it's definitely what the SUB37 can't. The FX are indeed unique, that radiophonic workshop soul. The cheaper price of the Matrixbrute somewhat appealing, but I do want a long term piece where regret won’t be an issue, so the $ is secondary.
